Tips to Painting Textured Walls

Textured walls can help provide character and hide a the abundance of repairs for walls that have had multiple patch-ups and damage. However, when it comes to painting them, it can be quite difficult to get an even coat or sharp lines.

Tips to Painting Textured Walls

• Clean well first! Be sure to hoover and wipe down walls well as textured walls can trap dust and dirt.

• Prepare the area by laying down covering over the floor, remove switch and plug covers and tape off the ceiling and base boards.

• Use the right equipment. A handled paint pail/cup that works with a roller brush, helps make things easier, an edging tool, an extra thick roller and a brush with an angled edge for difficult areas.

• Always apply a second coat.

• Remove tape once paint is dry.

Painting textured walls can be tricky but with these tips it will help it go a bit more smoothly.
