In recent years upcycling has become a huge trend which is seeing more and more people use their creative flair and ability to upcycle old furniture which otherwise would be thrown away. People are turning worn out and unsightly items into masterpieces. You can upcycle almost anything with just an eye for detail, creative ability, and skills but should you upcycle vintage furniture?
There is no definite answer to this question, as it will all depend on the item, the age of the furniture, and the value. Some vintage and antique furniture items still fetch big money. There is a huge market for these types of items with buyers wanting original items in the best condition as possible. Upcycling a special antique item could completely devalue it.
This isn’t to say that all vintage items are valuable, a lot of antique items are not worth much at all in terms of monetary value so therefore could be a great project to upcycle. It is always worth researching your item before taking the plunge to make sure it isn’t going to devalue it and ruin its antique appeal.
