Most people would consider bare walls to be a bad thing within a home, and they’d probably be right, except for a few exceptions, where the building needs to remain architecturally centric. Even so, you can make mistakes with the quantity and quality of paintings, and it is not something which should be done without due consideration.

When deciding upon which paintings to add to your home, you need to consider a few different areas:
Lighting is a big one; this can effect colour and impression of paintings significantly, with one light setting giving a totally different impression than another. Art museums make an art out of lighting itself, so you need to take this seriously in your considerations.
Colour: This is very important, as you need to avoid any clash with the colour of your walls and furniture and your painting.
Wall space: Crowding your wall with too many paintings is a big no-no, so you should remember that less is often more. You may also want to save some space for photographs as well.
